Eclipse - Black Cat by AmandaDrage Eclipse - Black Cat by AmandaDrage
I don't know what's wrong with me :XD: WHY DO I KEEP PAINTING CATS WHEN THEY FRUSTRATE ME SO

This one, as with all the other cats I've painted, was a pain in the ass. I don't think I'd be happy no matter how long I worked on it.

5x5" boxcanvas, oils, reference many thanks to ~PhantasmaStock [link]

I love how the cat blends with the background. Really great eyes as well.

Thanks so much :) Haha I was quite surprised, it got took off the display as soon as it sold, so when I went back it was gone. I'll never see it again. It sounds silly but I find that really odd to get my head around. :XD:

Haha, I understand - you put a lot of heart into your work and when you can't see it any more it's kind of weird, right? :)

You should be proud if this one. Looks like a right little King of his world - and with such a limited palette as well. Definately my fav of your kitties, though the snowleopard gives it a good run for its money.

Thank you very much! :) Funnily enough this one seemed to catch the most interest at my most recent show, too. Maybe I should jack in the equine art and become a cat painter

:giggle: Seeing how cats and kitties in general have gone almost viral on the net, I think you're on to a good thing there. Painting a cat once in a while sounds great, especially if you sell them. I've found over the years that equine art tends to need a somewhat more specialized audience than things like flowers and cats and similar.

I agree. Only once in a while though. They still have a way of making me mess up.

And yes you're right, people either like horse art or flowers, or they hate horses or think flowers are pointless. But everyone likes a cat!
