Bluebell by AmandaDrage Bluebell by AmandaDrage
I want to call this Flufflebutt as that is what I call my parents' longhaired kitten. But I felt it wasn't appropriate. lol

4x4" mini canvas, oils. These used to be everywhere, now I'm having to hunt on ebay for the 4x4"'s. I should have bought the whole box while I had the chance!
I'm currently trying to get a handful of these done in time for Saturday's show. They're probably not even going to be dry in time, but I'll have enjoyed this manic painting episode nonetheless.

I'm going to start offering pet portraits on these minicanvases, complete with mini easel. More info coming soon.

Ref is my own, a Greek island street kitten. Photo isn't on internet.

Thank you so much :) I love the mini ones, they are so much fun to do. (Except that one I did of a puppy... That one was the meanest painting I have ever done lol!!)

Awesome. I was actually going to order some from Michaels and have them shipped here because they seemed impossible to track down in this country, but I eventually found some on ebay!

:XD: Flufferbutt is what we routinely call both of our longhairs!

Looks very much like Milo when he was little. I love all the definition on the chest fluffies.

And tiny pet portraits, you say? :la: I'm definitely interested - I'd love to have a teensy portrait of my own flufferbutt! :giggle:

Thank you :D They're fun to do and people tend to want to pick them up and look at them. What I really want is a table covered in them, but I'd never get that many done! It would look so cool though.
I'll have to get a photo of Fluffle- um... Reuben... so everyone can see just how much the name suits him !

Yes, do share! I have to see such an aptly named cat. ;)

Yes, that might work. I'm looking into doing another crafty show at the end of March with a friend, so if that goes ahead, I'll definitely work on the rest of the minis I have planned.
Well this is him when he was teeny. [link] He's a little bigger now and a LOT fluffier!! He looks like he's wearing fluffy pantaloons, hence Flufflebutt... haha.

Naaawww!! He's uber cute! Lol, I love his little curly white ear hair. And my, oh MY are those some long whiskers! Hehee, definitely a flufflebutt by nature. :P

YES! And let me tell you it really suits my parents' kitten. He has so much hair!! In fact I could have just painted him, instead of spending last weekend noting various dA stock artists asking if I could paint their images to sell, etc. :XD:

Well I remembered I already have a really adorable photo of him from when he was a lot smaller. So technically I would have been better off with my own photo :XD: I always forget that I have some nice photos, too! We've never had a super-fluffy one before. He's a bit of a novelty

I have 4 sitting in my art room-I'd give them to you, but I don't think the shipping from the USA to London would be worth it! :XD: I bought them only because you inspired me but I don't know what to do with them yet. haha!!

This looks great, I can't imagen how you did the soft looking hair on the chest, it looks fantastic.

Haha well if I get desperate and you are sure you're never going to use them, I'd probably pay the shipping and have them anyway. But I have twelve of them on the way now. :D
And anyway you should use them! Do some b&w paintings. Something simple to start with... I bet you can do it. :D
Thanks  One day I'll learn to paint hair/fur in detail, not just like blobs! Haha.

Are they really that hard to find?! o.O Wow, then I won't tell you how much I paid for them. But 12 should last you and ordering them online is probably your best bet anyway. And good idea! I could do color themed ones, even if the end up being abstract stuff.

Well, it seems they've discontinued the ones I used to buy, yes. It's really odd. I think it's because over here only one company made them as far as I know, and probably in the US a bunch of companies produce them. Maybe they didn't sell well here!
Honestly, they look so cool when they're done. Try iiiitt :XD: :poke: lol!

Why dont you make some? You should be able to find precut blocks(or cut your own), canvas cloth, and stapler (one of those ones meant for stapling couches) It is really easy to make them. It would save you a lot of trouble too =3 It would also give you the option of choosing a canvas cloth with a different texture too.

There is one person in this house who knows how to make canvases... and it isn't me ;) Maybe I should ask him to make me some minis. OOH and I have a roll of canvas too! Hmm, nice idea! Thanks :D

Honestly it is really easy! It is like folding a present, it is important to make sure it is tight and has no wrinkles. I believe it is just a matter of giving an inch or so extra cloth around the edge and then you fold the edges nicely, pull it tight and straight, and then staple it on XD

I would just use a solid board already cut to size. Although there are good tutorials for making canvas frames as well, something that small though I am not sure it matters what method you use. I remember in school we made canvases, the acrylic painting I made on it using the solid board method still looks nice. =3

I'm sure it can't be too difficult, on that scale at least. I'm told that once you start making ones the size of doors, it's a two-person job. XD
I could probably just cut some board and use that without the canvas. I like painting on smooth board too! I'm not sure which I prefer though.

Paint the same thing on both types and see which you like more.
Also as far as the canvases the size of a door, use your feet too! Only joking although that would be funny to see.
